Our events are open to all riders and kinds of bike! Events listed as MTB or CX are all open to any off road capable bike – MTB event courses are designed more for mountain bikes but are also rideable on gravel/CX bikes (care may be needed on some sections). CX/ Gravel events are also open to MTBs; mixed surfaces and longer / faster courses give you a great workout! We also welcome E-bikes on all of our open hill events events (which is everything except Battle in the Bowl). You can find specific bike information on individual event pages.

If you have any questions about any event, you can call us on 0118 988 6041.

Our Events

A Sportive with the Soul of a Club Ride
A new twist on the classic sportive, the Hampshire Hills Beach Cruiser is a sportive with the atmosphere of a summer club run to the beach. Starting from Petersfield in hte shadow of Butser Hill, the route winds you up over the mighty South Downs, then sweeps through the pick of the twisting country lanes to the south coast, delivering you to the sea front at Hayling Island.

Once you hit the beach, you can relax, enjoy the sea breeze, and grab a bite and cuppa at the beach-side checkpoint. Our team will be there with a support station that acts as the finish for the Short ride, or your midway checkpoint for the Full Route. That’s it; if you rode the Short Route, your riding is done. All that’s left to do is to enjoy the beach, maybe arrange to meet family or friends to spend a few hours before giving you a lift back to your car or back home.

If you’re riding the Full Route, after your beach stop you’ll get back on the bike to make your way back up country to finish at the event base at Petersfield (where you started). In the spirit of the chilled theme of the day, we’re being nice to you though. The route back is a little shorter and more direct than the ride out; nobody wants to have the bulk of their ride in front of them after a cake stop or lunch at the beach! Oh, and yes you will be timed for this ride, but the time you spend at the beach stop won’t be included in your overall time. Just make sure that you check in and out through the timing station and we’ll deduct your beach time from your ride time in the final results. After all, a good day on the bike means only being in a hurry when you want to be, right?

12th August 2017

Petersfield School

One way ticket or day trip return – Short ride to the beach to meet friends and family and make your own way back, or full ride there & back with a beach break en route.
Shorter return leg (Full Route) – the out route to the beach is about two thirds of the total ride, so you have a shorter run back after your lunch stop!
Why not split the ride? Enter as a pair with your partner and split riding duties – one rides out to meet at the beach, and the other rides back to meet ah the finish!

Event Logistics

On the Ride
Once you’re ready to start, report to the start / finish area with your timing chap strapped to your ankle. Listen to the short briefing and ride across the timing mat as directed. As you go around the route, you will find bright orange signs and ribbons to follow. These should guide you around the whole route, but use your map if you think you have strayed off course or have a problem with the route navigation. There are also emergency contact numbers on the edge of your map. Ride safely at all times, and remember that you are on public rights of way and roads. This is not a race, so please ride appropriately, and be friendly and polite to other road users. At the end of the ride, pass over the timing mat once again, and hand in your timing chip. For those interested in there ride time, these will be available on the computer screen at the finish.
Checkpoints / Feed Stations
There will be a feed / support station at the beach stop, where you will be able to top up on snacks, water and energy mix if you are continuing back to the event base on the Full Route. (There is also a good beach cafe nearby for a proper feed – stop, relax and enjoy the break!). Our team will also be on hand to help you with mechanical and other support issues. The checkpoint will feature a ride timing mat – please look for the “Timing Point” sign as you arive at the checkpoint and pass over the mat as instructed. Passing through these points helps us to run and time the event more effeciently, so please do use them as directed by our team.
Entry on the Day
You can enter the event on the day, although there is a small surcharge of £5 (so pre entering is recommended). Just arrive before the end of the registration period and pay at the desk.
Registration
Go to the registration desk on your arrival. If you’ve pre-entered via the internet or posted your entry, you’ll have a timing chip on an ankle strap to collect at the desk. If you haven’t pre-entered, pay at the desk and a chip will be allocated to you. Collect your colour A4 map at registration also. Next, get yourself ready to ride.
Following the Route
Follow the orange signs and orange ribbons (you will shown samples of these at the ride briefing) regardless of which route distance you are riding.

(Please note, in spite of our best efforts, signs can go missing or be tampered with during the course of the day. Make sure you pick up a copy of the route map at event registration, and carry it with you for use if needed. We also send out GPS files to all pre entries prior to the event, so if oyu want ot have the route on your phone or GPS device, sign up online now!)

Food and Drink
A selection of food, drink and snacks will be available to purchase from the event centre before and after the ride.
